About Real Time Risk

Australian Workplace Health and Safety Consultancy for High Risk and Regulated Environments

Real Time Risk is an Australian owned workplace health and safety consultancy delivering practical, defensible WHS and HSSE solutions for organisations operating in complex, high risk and regulated environments.

We support businesses where safety performance, regulatory compliance and operational delivery must work together in real conditions not just on paper.

Our focus is on building systems, processes and leadership capability that are understood, implemented and sustained across operations.

Our Purpose

Real Time Risk was established to address a common gap seen across industry.

Many organisations hold safety documentation that exists to satisfy audits, contractual requirements or desktop reviews, but does not reflect how work is actually planned, managed or performed.

When this disconnect is identified through regulatory inspections or assurance reviews, it often results in operational disruption, corrective action requirements and unplanned cost.

Our role is to bridge that gap by aligning safety systems with real operations, ensuring they are practical, compliant and effective in the environments they are intended to control.

How We Work

We work directly with business owners, senior leaders, project managers and frontline supervisors to provide clear, structured and realistic safety support.

Our approach is grounded in:

  • Real world operational experience
  • Strong regulatory and legislative knowledge
  • Practical risk management principles
  • Clear governance and accountability

To support effective engagement, we ask clients to provide brief details about their operations, risks and objectives through our enquiry process. This allows us to understand the context early and respond with advice and support that is relevant and proportionate.

Engagements are tailored to the size, risk profile and maturity of each organisation and may include site-based support, remote advisory services or project specific delivery.

Experience and Capability

Real Time Risk is led by a senior WHS and HSSE professional with more than 35 years of experience across high-risk and regulated industries, including:

Oil and gas

Marine and offshore operations

Marine construction and coastal infrastructure

Mining and resources

Defence related and government projects

Renewable energy projects, including battery energy storage systems (BESS)

Complex infrastructure and industrial environments

This experience underpins our ability to support both strategic governance requirements and day to day operational risk management across traditional and emerging industry sectors.

What We Deliver

Practical Safety Systems

We design, review and implement WHS and HSSE management systems that are:

  • Aligned with applicable legislation and recognised standards, including ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 where relevant
  • Structured to support high risk and complex operations, including marine, offshore, construction and industrial environments
  • Scalable to suit different operational contexts, project sizes and organisational maturity
  • Usable by those responsible for applying them, from senior leaders through to frontline supervision

Our systems are supported by fit-for-purpose technical procedures and plans, which may include:

  • Emergency response and incident management arrangements
  • Diving and marine operations procedures
  • High risk construction and industrial work controls
  • Permit to work and isolation management
  • Contractor and interface risk management

Governance and Assurance

We support organisations to strengthen governance, accountability and assurance through:

  • Audits and gap analysis aligned to regulatory, contractual and operational requirements
  • System and process reviews that test how governance arrangements operate in practice, not just how they appear on paper
  • Leadership and duty holder support focused on clarity of roles, obligations and decision making
  • Structured action planning and improvement tracking that supports continual improvement and regulatory defensibility

All governance and assurance documentation is developed specifically for each client, taking into account the organisation’s industry, risk profile, operating environment and level of maturity.

Documents and frameworks are written from scratch, informed by experience across oil and gas, marine and offshore operations, construction, mining, defence related projects, renewables and complex infrastructure. We do not rely on generic templates or copy pasted material.

This approach ensures governance arrangements are credible, auditable and capable of supporting both operational delivery and external scrutiny.

Operational and Project Support

We support organisations during planning, mobilisation and execution of high-risk projects, providing practical oversight and advice where work is being actively delivered.

Support may include contractor and interface risk management, compliance readiness, mobilisation reviews, site-based support and assurance during critical phases of work.

This ensures safety and compliance requirements are integrated into project delivery, not treated as a separate or reactive function.

Who We Work With

We work with organisations operating in high risk and heavily regulated environments, particularly where safety, compliance and operational delivery are subject to rigorous oversight and assurance requirements.
Our clients include:

Construction and civil contractors managing complex or high-risk works

Marine, offshore and coastal operators working under strict regulatory frameworks

Infrastructure, utilities and energy providers delivering critical assets and services

Industrial and manufacturing businesses with significant operational risk profiles

Principal contractors and organisations delivering government and defence related projects, including work undertaken within defence industry expectations and assurance environments

Our clients typically require practical, defensible support that can withstand regulatory, client and third-party scrutiny while enabling work to be delivered safely and efficiently.

Our Approach to Engagement

We do not offer generic solutions or off the shelf answers.

Engagements typically begin with a discussion to understand the organisation, its risks and its objectives. From there, we provide clear advice and structured support aligned to real operational needs.

Whether the requirement is consulting, assurance, system development or access to compliance resources, our focus remains on delivering outcomes that are practical, defensible and effective in operation.
